After weeks of discussions and careful preparation, the day has come for us to return to selling at some of our local markets.  We are so looking forward to providing our bread directly to the people of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire again.

Renewed vigour

It was hard on the business losing the opportunity to sell our fresh bread directly at the beginning of the crisis back in March, but we have been kept very busy supplying all the local shops that have really stepped up to support their communities.  It has been a difficult time, but inspiring too – new bonds have formed and we can feel renewed strength amongst the residents of a region that we know very well, one that the Taylors family has been serving for 75 years this year.  This new energy has filtered through to every person working here – giving us new vigour in our work – to provide the region’s daily fresh quality bread at a fair price for many more years to come.

We hope this won’t be goodbye

The last three months have also given us some time to consider every element of the business.  After long consideration and with some regret, we have decided not to return to some of our regular markets.  We realise this will come as a disappointment to many and the decision wasn’t taken lightly.  We will not be returning to Nailsea, Dorchester, Bradford on Avon, Devizes, Calne or Burnham on Sea markets.  We will miss all our customers from these markets, particularly our regular loyal ones who have become friends.  We are so grateful for your support and friendship over the years and we hope that you will be in the position to still enjoy our bread from one of our retail customers or another market in your area.  Please take a look at the map here on the website to find out what options you have nearby and hope to see you soon!

The new normal at markets

Returning to markets after lockdown has its challenges, but we were determined to go to every length necessary to protect our customers and staff.  We have carefully followed the government guidelines and we are pleased and confident with our new market solutions.

Each market stall is faced with perspex sheeting, we wear gloves, we have introduced an even more rigorous and regular cleaning routine (it was rigorous before, now it’s probably verging on OCD!) and we have introduced (and will encourage) card payments.  We’re all set!  We’re from the West Country and won’t let this beat us!

Slimline product range, for now

With the fast-changing environment and re-investment we have been working on lately, something has had to give.  We don’t want to put our prices up so we decided to improve our efficiency by working on producing the same quality but a smaller range.  This is just a temporary measure, if you’re missing some of your favourites, please bear with us.  We will do a full review so would love to hear from you about your wants and desires (bread related please!!).  Take a look here to see the current list of products.

So that just leaves us to say – please continue to look after yourselves and others and we look forward to seeing you soon!
