Selling at Shows from 2009 – 2019
This year marks 10 years since Taylors of Bruton first started selling our bread at shows. In 2009 we set up our stalls for the first time at the Sherborne Castle Country Fair and it went so well we started looking at shows. The same year we thought we’d try out the nearby Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show and the Frome Show. We’ll be going along to all three of those again in 2019 which tells you how well it’s been going!
10% Discount on purchases over £5
To mark 10 years at shows we’re offering a 10% Discount on purchases over £5 to our customers at the Royal Bath & West Show this year, between 29th May and 1st June 2019. All you have to do is head over to the Food & Drink Marquee, choose from our delicious range of bread, pastries and treats (many baked that morning) and state the code ‘10 YEARS AT SHOWS‘ and if your bill comes to over £5 you will receive 10% off!
A bit about County Shows
We love a show, also known as an Agricultural Show or County Show, as do most people in the West Country of the UK. They have become a West Country tradition but in fact, the first known agricultural show was held by Salford Agricultural Society in Lancashire in 1768. Originally they were very specialist, appealing mainly to the agricultural community, and moved from place to place. These early shows were opportunities for farmers to show their livestock and find out about new fertilisers, machinery, animal feed etc. These days they tend to be in a set location and have a much wider appeal to locals and visitors, with fairground rides, trade stands (many selling local produce, like us!), food demos, show jumping and live music plus much more. It really is a fabulous day out for all the family and gives local producers like us a chance to showcase what we do. With many more people now understanding the benefits of buying local to both their taste buds and to the environment, no wonder these shows are becoming more and more popular every year.
